BSC Steel
Take-apart reels with mechanical release for the winding of coils, provided with collapsible or conical barrel or suitable for use with self-supporting cardboard. They are generally used in high speed wire drawing processes and are usually manufactured with automatic opening system, but they are also available with pneumatic and hydraulic activation. The mechanical release can be carried out by 3, 4 or more groups made up of special hardened steel threaded rods and bushings, and provided with thrust bearing. The number of rods depends on the type of process, the stresses to which the reel is subjected, the reel dimensions and the requested loading capacity. Alternatively, opening mechanical systems with central ring having passing hole, or with central screw and blank hole are also available. All available opening mechanical systems are provided with safety lock.
Depending on the specific application, BSC reels can be provided with collapsible barrel or predisposition for the housing of self-supporting cardboard. The collapsible barrel is composed of a variable number of sectors (usually 4 or 6) and is provided with special guides for the passage of straps. Once the reels opens, the sectors collapse thanks to some to pins/rods and allow easy removal of the coil. The flanges are also equipped with slits for strapping and with housings for the insertion of the rings for the lifting of the coil.
In its standard configuration with collapsible barrel and rods, the BSC reel opens on its vertical axis. After the unscrewing of the rods, the opening is obtained through the removal (lifting) of the fixed flange with barrel and threaded rods. In doing so, the coil (previously strapped) will be placed on the “mobile” flange, ready for handling thanks to the lifting rings. The assembling of the reel is made easier by special pins that allow the centering of the barrel sectors and of the rods with the "mobile" flange. Also the opposite configuration is possible. BSC reels are available with flange diameter 760, 800, 1000, 1100 and 1250, but non-standard diameters are also available as per customer needs. The current dimensional norms are DIN 46395/46397 and Z2, Z3 and Z4. Upon request, take-apart reels to be also used as coil lifters can be supplied.
